Who I am

Who I am

I’m Da’Shawn Holmes, a Houston-based filmmaker dedicated to telling compelling stories that leave a lasting impact. From a young age, I’ve been inspired by thought-provoking films that challenge perceptions and evoke strong emotions—and that passion drives every project I take on. My work blends surreal, mind-bending narratives with a bold vision, often incorporating elements of dark humor, psychological depth, and dynamic action. As a director, I focus on delivering striking visuals paired with meaningful storytelling that connects with audiences on a deeper level. I collaborate closely with clients to bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to life, ensuring each project not only stands out but also achieves its creative and business goals. If you’re looking for a filmmaker who combines artistic integrity with a professional, results-driven approach, I’m ready to help make your vision unforgettable.

the start

Office scene with a woman sitting at a desk, three young people sitting in chairs facing her, and a woman with long dark hair sitting on the floor. The woman at the desk has short red hair and is wearing glasses, working with some papers and other items on her desk.

This is the moment everything changed. Sitting across from Ms. Sharply—my theater teacher, my mentor, my first believer—I nervously pitched my crazy idea: to start a film business right inside the school. She said no. But that rejection didn’t stop me.

What happened after this photo is the real story: a journey fueled by her guidance, her patience, and the lessons she gave me in acting, directing, and most importantly, storytelling. Though I was never fully a part of the theater world—often skipping class, asking endless questions, and just trying to soak up everything I could—she saw something in me and chose to invest her time and wisdom.

Ms. Sharply passed away a year after I graduated, but her influence never left me. This photo isn’t just a memory; it’s a testament to how far I’ve come because of her. It’s a reminder that even in the face of doubt and “no’s,” relentless passion and mentorship can propel you to heights you never imagined.

From here, everything I did—every film, every project, every challenge—skyrocketed. This was the start of turning a dream into reality, driven by determination, fueled by inspiration, and dedicated to honoring the belief she had in me.
